Photo walk in Amsterdam – The Haarlemmerbuurt.

Today I would like to share my absolute favourite neighbourhood in Amsterdam with you – the Haarlemmerbuurt. This neighbourhood is always bustling with people from all over the world, and has its very own atmosphere, making every trip here something a little special.

The bridges and very typical Amsterdam architecture with old townhouses and endless details, creates a huge variety of photo opportunities all year around. The canals are busy the whole day creating unique and diverse cityscapes that are completely irresistible to any photographer. The Haarlemmerbuurt is only a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station, making it a great place to start exploring the city.

Have you ever had the feeling that all of the world’s shopping streets pretty much have the same stuff on offer? Well then, you need to visit Haarlemmerstraat. Haarlemmerstraat is full of fun and quirky stores that you do not usually see in a shopping street. There are also plenty of cosy themed cafes, coffee shops and good restaurants. There are also many ecological food stores in the area with a fantastic selection of local produce. The Haarlemmerbuurt has something for every taste. I had a sweet tooth today so I couldn’t resist these home made meringues, and a big cup of hot chocolate.

Hot Chocolate in Amsterdam!

The bridge over Haarlemmersluis is a very popular place to take photos. I stood here for a couple of minutes and ended up being asked to take photos of several couples that was out for a romantic walk. Maybe I should set up a little shop this spring?

I had a wonderful day in the city, spring is knocking on the door and soon nature will serve us a colorful feast for our eyes so I can’t wait to get back to explore and make more photowalks in Amsterdam!
