The Tramuntana mountain range stretches across the North of Mallorca, and is a popular destination. If you drive over the mountains on the narrow roads with hairpin turns and a horde of cyclists, buses and Vespas, you will be rewarded at the end with a couple of fantastic beaches and go swimming with a Jurassic Park like backdrop.

We chose to take the road were the tourist buses took another route and ended up in Cala Tuent. It was totally worth it!

A stunning , stony beach with crystal clear waters, a small hut and a couple of horses under the trees by the small bay.

After swimming for an hour we decided to check out the restaurant that was a bit up in the mountain from the beach.
The climb was steep and we needed a break at the top, where we also realized there was a parking lot…. we could have taken the car!
It turned out the restaurant was kind of posh, but we managed to get a table and enjoy our first seafood paella with awesome views over the bay.

On our way back we met the most unlikely of hustlers: Donkeys.

They literally came out on the road at a crossroad where everyone has to stop, and wanted food from the cars. Luckily they were very friendly, an it seemed like this is something they do everyday to unsuspecting tourists on their way back from the mountains to get an afternoon snack.
Great dramatic mountain scenery

Sounds like a great time and those donkeys make me giggle. They know how to get what they want.
